S&OP is an important business process used to implement a production plan to best satisfy sales plans and forecasts.

APICS will host a seminar on S&OP on March 11, 2011 from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, where the principles and practices of S&OP will be covered. This includes:

• Improving the performance of manufacturing
• Developing functional procedures
• Documenting departmental responsibilities
• Properly training existing, relocated, and new employees

In addition, several case studies will be examined by featured speaker Rich Mihelich (CPIM, C.P.M., CIRM), VP Affiliate Relations for RAM Supply Chain, LLC. Here is an example of a case study:

Problem: Cardio Vascular Stent had no inventory after one weekend when a 6-month supply had been shipped on the previous Friday. Stock-outs had occurred routinely over several weeks!
