As part of the course, "International Field Experience in Supply Chain Management," over 25 students traveled to China over Spring Break from March 9 to March 19, 2012. The course was held by the Operations and Supply Chain Management (OSM) Department and was led by Department Chair Dr. Oya Tukel and Professor Dr. Chia-Shin Chung.

Students spent five nights in Beijing and four nights in Shanghai, with visits to:

• Northeast Ohio companies operating in China
• Chinese-owned manufacturing facilities
• The Shanghai deep sea port, one of the largest container ports in the world

The temperatures in China were cold compared to the unseasonably warm weather in Cleveland, but everyone had a blast and gained first-hand knowledge about how companies implement supply chain management internationally.
