The summer Northeast Ohio Supply Chain Tours, arranged by the Operations and Supply Chain Management Department, gives students the opportunity to analyze real world supply chain issues. Last week, Dr. Oya Tukel led students to the Norfolk Southern Intermodal Facility in Maple Heights. Headquartered in Norfolk, Virginia, Norfolk Southern operates over 20,000 miles of railway throughout 22 states in the Eastern US.
On Friday, May 25, twenty-one CSU and CWRU students traveled to the Maple Heights Norfolk Southern site. Students observed the train loading process and spoke with Norfolk Southern Division Manager BJ Wargo. Mr. Wargo discussed issues regarding car and container sizes, train capacity management, and international freight.
Students enjoyed the trip and are looking forward to this week's tour of the Toledo Port.
