The graduate program in Economics at Cleveland State University serves two types of students:
a. Those who are interested in continuing their studies at the Ph.D. level; and
b. Those who are interested exclusively in the terminal M.A. degree to advance themselves in the job market.
To meet the objectives of the program the department offers course work in four broad areas:

All required courses are offered in the evening.
The department follows the general requirements of the College of Graduate Studies regarding Regular and Provisional status. To be admitted as a Regular graduate student, the applicant must have a bachelor's degree with at least a 2.75 grade point average and have completed intermediate microeconomics, intermediate macroeconomics, calculus, and statistics. However, applicants who have not completed these courses may do so upon provisional admission to the program.
Financial aid in the form of a Graduate Assistantship is available to a limited number of qualified graduate students. Assistantships carry a stipend plus full or partial tuition support. Tuition scholarships are also available on a limited basis. Two letters of recommendation are required. Applications for students seeking a graduate assistantship must be completed by May 1st.
The University provides job placement services through its Career Services Center. The department will assist students who are near completion or have completed its M.A. program in their search for suitable employment.
