In accordance with the Federal Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act (FERPA) of 1974 and subsequent amendments, your records cannot be released without your written consent. All outstanding obligations (financial, academic or administrative) due to the University must be cleared before your transcript request can be processed.
Official Cleveland State University transcripts are produced on green security paper and are sent through regular US Mail in a Cleveland State University envelope. If the transcript is asked to be "Sealed" there will be a stamp on the back seal of the envelope containing the University Registrar's signature. If the transcript contains coursework prior to 1982, the official transcript will be on white paper and will have the University Registrar's signature on the bottom right and will contain an embossed seal directly above the signature.
The fastest and easiest way to order transcripts is online through the University Registrar's webpage. Your order and payment will be taken over the internet and you will be able to track the status of your order at all times.
The second method for ordering is by mail. To order by mail, download the Transcript Request Form from the Office of the University Registrar's webpage and mail the request along with a check or money order made payable to Cleveland State University for $4 per copy requested to:

All transcripts issued by Cleveland State are official documents and contain your complete academic record, including courses, grades, GPA, degrees received, and honors.
Students may request a "Sealed" transcript if they are delivering the transcript to a third party and wish the transcript remain an official document. Transcripts being sent directly to another institution do not need to be "Sealed."
All transcripts given to the student are stamped "Issued to Student" in red to prevent unauthorized alteration or duplication.
Orders placed via the internet can expect a processing time of
1-2 business days from the day your authorization form is received.
Orders submitted by mail or in person can expect 1-2 business days
processing time from the date your order is received.
All processing times are an estimate of the time needed to complete
your order, they are NOT a guarantee. If you attended CSU prior
to 1982, a longer processing time may be necessary. Delivery times
are not included in processing time and vary according to local
postal services for the destination address and delivery schedules
for overnight mailing carriers.

If, after 15 business days from the date of the issuing of your transcript, your transcript has not arrived at its intended destination, notify the Office of the University Registrar at (216) 687-3700 or at registrar@csuohio.edu. Notifications of non-receipt are accepted up to 60 days after your order has been issued. After 60 days, you must place a new order. All notifications of non-receipt will be investigated. The University Registrar's Office reserves the right to refuse the complimentary re-issuing of transcripts.
If you have ordered a transcript for pick-up, you MUST present a picture ID as identification. If you authorize another individual to pick up your transcripts, you must provide that individual with a letter of authorization that contains a copy of your photo ID and that person must provide his or her own picture ID. Transcripts ordered for pick up that are not claimed within 60 days are destroyed. Transcripts for pickup can be found at All-in-1 (MC 116).
All transcript requests must be paid for at the time of ordering. Students/alumni can pay by credit card over the web, mail a check or money order with their request, or pay in person at the Office of Treasury Services (MC 115). Mailing cash with your request is not an acceptable method of payment and failure to provide payment will result in your order being returned to you. Please make all checks and money orders payable to "Cleveland State University."
