WHY:
Viking Expeditions is a student-led service-learning initiative created for the purpose of providing Cleveland State students with engaging opportunities to expand their world view through leadership and service. The program provides students with the opportunity to use their time away from classes to serve their community and communities other than their own, while at the same time discussing how to address needs both at home and in other communities.
The students’ New Orleans assistance effort is coordinated through the University’s Center for Leadership and Service, whose mission is to engage and educate students around the core areas of self-knowledge, leadership theory and practice, service-learning, values clarification, diversity, and civic engagement while being inclusive and accessible to all students. The organization has a rich history of serving the public. This past November students and staff performed service in Cleveland at St. Augustine Hunger Center and Dress for Success.
