Four-year grant to total nearly a half-million dollars
The Child Development Center at CSU has been awarded a $113, 803 “CCAMPIS” grant from the U.S. Department of Education for 2009-10. CCAMPIS - Child Care Access Means Parents in School - is a highly competitive program that awards grants to universities to support the participation of low-income parents in postsecondary education through the provision of campus-based childcare services, a goal that is fundamental to the mission of the CSU Child Development Center.
Based on performance and achievement of goals, the grant is renewable for four years for a total of $455,212.
One of the core goals of the program is to "increase the perceived efficacy of students using the Child Development Center as it relates to their role as parents." To that end, the program will provide support for students who are also parents of young children so they are able to pursue a degree at CSU while being assured that they are providing good parenting to their children.
