Students at CSU won’t have to wait until June to experience the action and excitement of Soccer World Cup! The Center for International Services and Programs at CSU is hosting its first Fantasy World Cup, with more than 100 students (mostly international) signed up to play.
Friday, April 9 from 7–10 p.m. — Quarter and semi finals
Friday April 16 from 7–10 p.m. — Final match and awards ceremony
CSU Krenzler Field under the dome – corner of Chester Ave. and East 17th Street
More than 800 international students at CSU represent over 70 different countries. Many of those countries count watching and playing soccer, or football as it is known in the rest of the world, as a national pastime.
At this popular event, a Soccer World Cup trophy and Golden Boot for the highest scoring player are in the offing as 16 countries battle it out for the championship. International and American students of varying skill levels will be on the field representing their country of choice, not necessarily their country of citizenship!
Will Argentina win over Egypt or will Italy trounce Cameroon? Spectators are welcomed to witness the wins and losses as teams make it to the final match.
