Society of Women Engineers Brings National Campaign to Cleveland State University

CSU SWE chapter one of three student organizations selected to host engineering & technology career event for women

The national chapter of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) will stop at Cleveland State University on their nationwide “Wow! That’s Engineering!®” tour. The event encourages young women to become more interested in engineering and technology careers, and honors the achievements of women and girls as they develop and discover the future through technology. Sponsored by FirstEnergy, the event takes place on Saturday, April 10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at CSU’s Joseph E. Cole Center.

“We are thrilled that CSU will be a part of such an important movement. Our goal is to introduce girls to rewarding careers in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math). We want them to know how brilliant they can be.” said Maria Baker, President, CSU Society of Women Engineers. “We look forward to helping to shatter stereotypes and change perceptions in Cleveland as well as across the country.”

Building a new generation of leaders proficient in engineering and technology is at the top of the nation’s agenda. While it has become critical to encourage all young people to pursue careers in STEM-related fields, this initiative has even greater significance among the nation’s young women.
