Dear Students, Faculty and Staff:

Cleveland State University values all members of our campus community, regardless of background, religious affiliation or country of origin. Your different perspectives enrich CSU each and every day, and your presence reflects our foundational commitment to inclusion and diversity.

In light of the recent executive order and its potential impact on international students and personnel, I wish to share the following information:

For All Non-Immigrant and Immigrant Visa Applicants

If you will be traveling outside of the U.S. and need to apply for a new visa to return, please allow for an extended period of time abroad for visa processing. Visa interview wait times are expected to increase significantly, and all visa applicants are currently required to have an interview. You can review the visa appointment and application processing times at the Department of State’s website.

For Citizens of Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen

There is an immediate ban on entry to the U.S. for 90 days for citizens of Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen. If you are from one of these countries, you can legally remain in the U.S., provided you maintain your current visa or lawful permanent resident (“green card”) status.

CSU strongly recommends that you not travel outside of the U.S. at this time. If you are from one of the seven countries noted above and you travel abroad, you may not be able to re-enter the U.S., at least until the ban on entry to the U.S. is lifted.

The CSU Center for International Services and Programs will do everything it can to assist and support our students, faculty and staff in the coming days and weeks. Other campus offices are also available to provide help, including the Counseling Center, Campus 411 All-in-1, First Year Advising and your college’s academic advising unit.

In closing, let me reaffirm CSU’s steadfast commitment to providing a safe and welcoming campus for each and every one of you. We will continue to appreciate, recognize and value the abilities, experiences, perspectives and talents of all members of our campus community.

Sincerely,

Ronald M. Berkman
