The Technology Transfer Office is responsible for managing the intellectual properties of Cleveland State University. TTO's mission is to facilitate the commercialization of the University's scientific and technical research findings for the benefit of the citizens of Ohio and the general public through the efficient and effective evaluation, management, protection and licensing of the University's intellectual property.
In support of its mission, the Technology Transfer Office primary goals are:
While the primary focus of the Cleveland State University faculty is teaching, research, and other scholarly activities, often the products of scholarship have application as products or services beyond the gates of the university. Through the Technology Transfer Office (TTO), which is apart of Cleveland State University’s Sponsored Programs and Research (OSPR) department TTO facilitates the transfer of university developed technologies to the marketplace by protecting the intellectual property through patents and copyright and subsequently licensing the protected intellectual property to companies outside the university. THE TTO WILL EVALUATE THE TECHNOLOGY, SECURE INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY PROTECTION, FIND A COMPANY TO DEVELOP AND SELL THE PRODUCT, AND NEGOTIATE THE LICENSE AGREEMENT.
