Safety and Security of Our Campus Community are Paramount

On Feb. 13, 2024, CSU PD arrested Cleveland Heights resident Alec Popivker on felony charges of aggravated menacing and ethnic intimidation stemming from a complaint filed by Cleveland State University students on Feb. 5, 2024.

While this latest arrest is connected to this specific and serious incident, Popivker has a history and pattern of alleged harassment on our CSU campus. In all, there have been 10 police reports filed about Popivker’s alleged harassing or inappropriate behavior since April 2022.

He is currently under a suspended jail term and serving 18 months of probation for stealing a banner in November 2022 from the CSU student group Solidarity for Palestinian Human Rights.  At that time, Popivker was barred from being on the CSU campus and given “Persona Non Grata” status. The conditions of his probation included practicing good behavior.

The safety of our students, faculty, staff and visitors is paramount.
