Computer Requests

Updated Computer Request Process!

We are excited to announce the kickoff of our project to update the Computer Request process. This new process will provide an improved user experience by way of a simplified Computer Request form.  This "one-stop shop" will allow CSU Faculty and Staff to request a variety of computers and computer accessories from a single request form.

IS&T is working alongside various groups across campus to both gather feedback on the new process and keep you up to date on the progress of this project. We will continue to update this web page with relevant information.

Timing

  • The creation of a simplified and consolidated Computer Request form is underway.
  • We will notify the CSU community when the new form is live.

FAQ

  • Q: Where is the new Computer Request form?
    • A: When the new form goes live, this page will be updated with a link to the new Computer Request form.
  • Q: Who is eligible for a computer replacement?
    • Existing Faculty and Staff - Existing Faculty or Staff members with a primary computer five years old or older are welcome to submit a request for a replacement device.  If you are unsure of the age of your current device, feel free to submit a Computer Request.  IS&T will determine the age of your current device and let you know if you are eligible for a replacement.
    • New Hires - Computer Requests for newly-hired faculty or staff members should be submitted as soon as their start date is known.  IS&T can then arrange for their device to be available as soon as is possible.
  • Q: What does the scope of the Computer Request process not include?
    • Retired Faculty and Staff - Retired CSU Faculty and Staff are required to turn in all computers and computer accessories prior to retirement.
    • Student Employees - Computers used for student employees should be requested through this process but are ultimately approved and funded by the Department/Provost.
    • Secondary Devices - See language above for student employee devices.
    • Digital Signage - Devices requested for Digital Signage are also not a part of this workflow.  IS&T is currently in the process of designing a new request process for Digital Signage devices.
  • Q: What are the new hardware standards?
    • A: You can choose between a 14" or 16" PC laptop or a 13" MacBook Air.  While IS&T cannot guarantee a specific model, all of our standard offerings will come with a mid-grade processor and an ample amount of memory/storage.
  • Q: What about computer accessories?
    • A: As part of the request process, you will have the option to choose one large USB-C docking monitor or a dual-monitor setup, one of them serving as a USB-C hub.  You may also request a keyboard/mouse combo and/or a webcam.
  • Q: What if I have specific requirements that the current standard offerings do not meet?
    • A: Please select the closest options to your needs within the request and note any differences you would like our team to be aware of for your request.
  • Q: What will happen to my old device?
    • A: As part of the computer deployment, IS&T will collect the device being replaced.  If any locally-saved data is needed, please ensure that you back up your files to OneDrive prior to the deployment of the replacement device.  IS&T technicians will ensure that your new device connects to OneDrive.
