CSU School of Music Spring 2022 Event Calendar

Hey, Vikings! We know that it might feel a little cold and wintery to call it “Spring” Semester right now, but the Cleveland State University School of Music is determined to bring some warmth and sunshine to your campus return with its run of events happening now through mid-May!

Among the many performances on the schedule, The Cleveland Chamber Choir, The Cavani String Quartet, percussionist Luke Rinderknecht and the CSU School of Music Ensembles will all perform compositions by CSU graduate and undergraduate Music Composition majors.

The Cleveland Philharmonic conducted by Victor Liva will feature the winner of the 2022 Schumacher Competition when they perform Tchaikovsky’s Symphony no. 6.; they will also perform Czerny’s Piano Concerto for Four Hands and Schumann’s Symphony no. 2 elsewhere in the schedule. Liva will also conduct the Cleveland State University Symphony Orchestra in performance.

Waetjen Auditorium will host the Cleveland Chamber Choir, CSU Chorale, and Kent State University Chorale in a program entitled Cecilia and Her World: Music of Cecilia McDowall and More! celebrating the British composer’s work and others. Scott MacPherson and Brian Bailey will conduct.

Off-campus, the Cleveland State University Jazz Combo Showcase will livestream a jazz-filled evening of original arrangements and standards in April at the Bop Stop Music Settlement, under the direction of Joe Miller and Alfredo Guerrieri.

And at Historic St. Peter Catholic Church (E. 17th and Superior Ave., Cleveland) the CSU Chorale and University Chorus will deliver a concert that winds up the season. Brian Bailey will conduct.

All events are located at the Cleveland State University Music and Communication Building, 2001 Euclid Ave., unless otherwise noted. For more information, visit the School of Music calendar here.
