The Michael Schwartz and Cleveland-Marshall College of Law libraries are hosting their second annual OpenCon, a conference that will celebrate and explore open education and open access with speakers, roundtable discussions and more.

The conference is a satellite event in partnership with the global OpenCon Conference. Held during Open Education Week, the panels and roundtable discussions will focus on different elements of open education, such as digital courseware and open source educational software.

Dr. Guowei Jian, a professor of communication at Cleveland State University, will deliver the keynote presentation titled, “Building narratives and creating conversations of change and innovation: A reflection on the adoption of Open Educational Resources.”

The event begins with a pre-conference Thursday, March 7 at 12:30 p.m. in the Michael Schwartz Library. The conference then continues in the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law Friday, March 8 at 8:30 a.m. The event is free and open to public, but registration is required. An optional lunch will be available for purchase until Feb. 28.

The conference will help advance the Michael Schwartz Library’s Affordable Learning initiative which seeks to reduce the cost of education for students while also more broadly disseminating educational resources for the betterment of the community at large.
