CSU Hosts Former Tulane President Scott Cowen Feb. 20

Cleveland State University’s Cleveland-Marshall College of Law is hosting Tulane University President Emeritus, Dr. Scott Cowen for a presentation Wednesday, Feb. 20. 

Cowen’s presentation, titled “Winnebagos on Wednesdays: How Visionary Leadership Can Transform Higher Education (And Law Schools for that Matter),” will discuss the current cynical narrative surrounding the necessity and value of higher education. He will share his insights on how colleges and universities can not only weather the “higher education crisis” but also fulfill their great potential. 

The event, which is free and open to the public, begins at 5 p.m. in the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law Moot Court Room.

Cowen, who led Tulane through the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, was named by Time Magazine as one of the nation’s Top 10 Best College Presidents and In 2010, President Barack Obama appointed him to the White House Council for Community Solutions. Prior to Tulane, Cowen spent 23 years as a professor at Case Western Reserve University. He is the author of six books and more than 100 academic and professional articles, essays and reviews.

Cowen’s most recent book, Winnebagos on Wednesdays: How Visionary Leadership Can Transform Higher Education, will be available for sale prior to and after the presentation.
