CSU Welcomes Two New Trustees to Board

Prominent community leaders Patricia DePompei and Lisa Kunkle appointed 9/6

Patricia DePompei and Lisa Kunkle have been selected to join Cleveland State University’s Board of Trustees. DePompei is the president of UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospitals (RBCH) and MacDonald Women’s Hospital (MWH) and Kunkle is senior vice president, general counsel and secretary for PolyOne Corporation.

“I am very pleased to welcome Patricia and Lisa to the Board and am looking forward to working with them to enhance this great university’s mission and goals,” says David Gunning, chair of the CSU Board of Trustees. “They both have the expertise and insights that will be pivotal to helping us chart a continued upward trajectory for CSU as a national leader in urban higher education.”

“Our new trustees are both nationally recognized in their fields and tremendous advocates for our community,” adds Harlan Sands, President of CSU. “I am excited they will be a part of what we are building here at Cleveland State, while also helping us advance the cause of public higher education in Cleveland and Northeast Ohio”.

DePompei assumed the role of President of RBCH and MWH in October 2012. Prior to that, she served the institutions as vice president of nursing and patient care operations, with overall responsibility for strategic management of all clinical operations and patient care services. She earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Toledo and an MSN from Kent State University. She has served in a number of local organizations including as leader of the University Hospitals of Cleveland United Way campaign, as a Greater Cleveland Health Care cabinet member for the United Way and as a board member of Ronald McDonald House of Cleveland.

In her role at PolyOne, a premier provider of specialty polymer materials, services and solutions, Kunkle manages all legal, governance and compliance matters for the company. Before joining PolyOne in 2007, she was a partner with Jones Day where she provided counsel to clients on executive and director compensation programs, corporate governance and corporate compliance. Kunkle  holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Miami University and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Toledo.  She serves on the boards of the Cleveland Leadership Center and Magnificat High School.
