CSU Wins 2015 Higher Education Excellence in Diversity Award
Cleveland State University has received the 2015 Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award from INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine, the oldest and largest diversity-focused publication in higher education.
As a recipient of the HEED Award — a national honor recognizing U.S. colleges and universities that demonstrate an outstanding commitment to diversity and inclusion — CSU will be featured, along with 91 other recipients, in the November 2015 issue of the magazine.
This is the second consecutive year that CSU has been named as a HEED Award recipient.
“Diversity for us is not an aspiration – it is simply who we are,” said Byron P. White, CSU’s vice president for university engagement and chief diversity officer. “Our challenge is not so much to pursue diversity, but to leverage this great asset to the maximum benefit for the campus community and the broader city and region by making sure that diversity and inclusion are integral to everything that we do as an institution.”
INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine selected CSU because of its work with the Deans’ Diversity Councils, outreach to students via the Office of Inclusion and Multicultural Engagement and Student Navigator program. Additionally, CSU’s multicultural programming is noted for its effort to make multiculturalism and inclusion accessible to the whole campus.
