Cleveland Engineering Society honors facility with Award of Excellence

CLEVELAND (Wednesday, March 3, 2016) – Cleveland State University’s Center for Innovation in Medical Professions has received a 2016 Award of Excellence from the Cleveland Engineering Society. CIMP, which opened in 2015, is a state of the art research, outreach and education facility designed to promote innovation in health care and enhance the delivery of medical services to urban communities.

“We are extremely honored to receive this prestigious award from one of the region’s premier professional associations,” says CSU President Ronald M. Berkman. “CIMP was conceived as a community resource that could better connect the health care needs of greater Cleveland with the research and education activities being conducted by Cleveland State and its partners.”

The 100,000 square foot facility houses the CSU Health and Wellness Clinic and the Speech and Hearing Clinic as well as audiology labs, nursing labs, and occupational therapy and physical therapy training rooms. It also is the site of the CSU-NEOMED Partnership for Urban Health, a unique collaboration with the Northeast Ohio Medical University which is designed to address the changing health care needs within urban metropolitan area

The Cleveland Engineering Society’s Award of Excellence is among the premier recognitions accorded to members of the architectural, engineering, and construction community. These awards are unique because they honor the three primary members of the building team: owners, designers and constructors—and recognize outstanding team achievement and innovative use of technology. The awards were conceived over 50 years ago to encourage elevation of the standards of practice in the architectural, engineering, and construction professions. CSU was honored in the new construction, large project category.
