Due to Extreme Cold: CSU Closes 10 p.m. Jan. 29, Resuming Normal Business Hours Friday

Due to the extreme cold weather forecast, Cleveland State University will close at 10 p.m. on Tuesday, January 29, and will resume normal business hours on Friday, February 1. Essential University personnel will report to work for their normal schedules during this time.

All classes for Wednesday and Thursday are canceled and CSU offices will be closed EXCEPT for the Viking Marketplace and University Residence Halls. The Marketplace will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 pm. for meal service for students and Residence Halls will be staffed under their normal schedule.

The CSU Women’s Basketball game against Detroit Mercy will go on as scheduled on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at the Wolstein Center.

Preparedness Tips

Meanwhile, Cuyahoga County’s Office of Emergency Management recommends putting the following items together in preparedness kits when severe weather is expected:

For Places of Residence:

  • Bottled water (at least one gallon per day per person)
  • Non-perishable food
  • Flashlight
  • Battery-powered radio
  • First aid kit
  • Prescription medications
  • Fully charged cell phone and phone charger
  • Extra batteries

For Automobiles:

  • Jumper cables
  • Flashlight and extra batteries
  • First aid kit
  • Prescription medications
  • Bottled water
  • Shovel and ice scraper
  • Warm clothes, gloves, hat, sturdy boots and an extra change of clothes
  • Blankets or sleeping bags
  • Fully charged cell phone and phone charger
  • Full gas tank
