Indy Bound! CSU Men's and Women's Basketball Win in Quarterfinals
It was back-to-back wins for the men’s and women’s basketball in Thursday night’s double-header at the Wolstein Center. And one step closer to “tourney time” for both.
CSU men’s basketball is headed to the Horizon League semifinals in Indianapolis after a 16-point win over the Robert Morris University Colonials in their quarterfinal matchup at Wolstein. They did it on the heels of CSU women’s basketball team, which earned its third straight trip to the Horizon League semis in Indianapolis with their eight-point win over the Northern Kentucky University Norse.
The men’s team is packing its bags after downing visiting RMU 83-67, improving to 20-9 on the season. Big games from Torrey Patton (25 points), D’Moi Hodge (15) and Tre Gomillion (13) mean that the next court battle will be with the Wright State Raiders in a conference semifinal on Monday, March 7 at 7 p.m. ET at Indiana Farmers Coliseum, broadcast on ESPNU.
With the 59-51 victory over NKU, the women’s team improved to a 20-7 record this season, edging out opponents in five of their last six contests. CSU’s offense was led by Destiny Leo with 18 points, while Isabelle Gradwell and Gabriella Smith both posted 11 points. Together, they will face the Green Bay Phoenix in the semifinal contest Monday, March 7 at 2:30 p.m. ET, airing on ESPN+.
