The Bernie Moreno Center for Sales Excellence at Cleveland State University will launch with an inaugural event on September 6 featuring international persuasion expert Dr. Robert Cialdini. Widely regarded as the worldwide expert on influence and persuasion, Dr. Cialdini is the author of the groundbreaking books Influence and Pre-suasion. In his talk, he will explain how to increase the likelihood of getting “yes” to your requests, proposals and recommendations.

The event will be held from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. in Playhouse Square’s Ohio Theater, 1511 Euclid Avenue. Tickets are $25 a person with free admission for students.

“Robert Cialdini is a pioneer in the exploding field of the science of persuasion, and is recognized globally for his research on how to use the science of influence ethically and effectively,” notes Sanjay Putrevu, dean of the Monte Ahuja College of Business at CSU, the academic home of the Moreno Sales Center. “If you are a business leader, entrepreneur or emerging professional, this is one morning that you won’t want to miss.”

“The science of influence tells us how to create significant change in the attitudes, perceptions, and, most importantly, behavior of those around us,” adds Cialdini

Cialdini is the Regents' Professor Emeritus of Psychology and Marketing at Arizona State University and previously served as a visiting professor at Stanford University. His book Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion has sold over three million copies, been translated into 34 languages and was named by Fortune as one of the 75 Smartest Business Books. His most recent book Pre-Suasion: A Revolutionary Way to Influence and Persuade was published in 2016 by Simon and Schuster and was listed on both the New York Times and The Wall Street Journal Best Seller Lists.

The Bernie Moreno Center for Sales Excellence offers an undergraduate certificate in professional sales, continuing education courses and a custom training program tailored to individual industry needs. The Center is actively seeking corporate collaborations to enhance curriculum development and training programs. Its growing list of corporate partners includes KeyBank, Oswald Companies, PNC and Swagelok Company. The Center was established through a $1 million transformational gift from Bernie Moreno, president of the Bernie Moreno Companies and former chair of the CSU Board of Trustees.
