Nigamanth Sridhar, Ph.D. named Provost and Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs at CSU
CLEVELAND (December 8, 2022) - Nigamanth Sridhar, Ph.D., a higher education leader with extensive administrative and research experience, and a long history of service to Cleveland State University has been named the University’s Provost and Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs. Dr. Sridhar had been serving in the role in an interim capacity since May.
“CSU will benefit substantially from Dr. Sridhar’s years-long dedication to our faculty and students, his knowledge of higher education research and his dedication to Cleveland and Northeast Ohio,” said CSU President Laura Bloomberg, citing Dr. Sridhar’s “dedication to the educational wellbeing of everyone in our community.”
Dr. Bloomberg also called Dr. Sridhar “an excellent ambassador for CSU who and embodies our commitment to serve as both an anchor and a beacon for the region.”
Dr. Sridhar has been a member of the CSU faculty since 2004 as a Professor of Computer Science in the Washkewicz College of Engineering. In addition, he served as Dean of CSU’s College of Graduate Studies from 2017 to 2020, before taking a leave to serve as Program Director in the Directorate for Education and Human Resources at the National Science Foundation. He returned to CSU earlier this year.
During his service as Interim Provost, he has led a number of significant initiatives in academic affairs.
In addition to advancing the realignment of CSU’s College of Arts and Sciences, College of Health, and Levin College of Public Affairs and Education, Dr. Sridhar hired new deans and initiated a comprehensive faculty-led process to review core undergraduate curriculums and partnered with faculty leadership to address CSU’s our most significant priorities around student progression and success.
Dr. Sridhar was recently named a Notable Immigrant Leader in 2022 by Crain’s Cleveland Business, cited for leadership at CSU and involvement with Cleveland educational organizations. He is a member of the Board of Education of the Cleveland Metropolitan School District, the Board of Trustees for Urban Community School, the Cleveland Leadership Center, and GCP’s Technology Board of Advisors. He recently joined the Board of the City Club of Cleveland.
“I am incredibly honored and humbled by the trust that university leadership and the entire campus community has placed in me,” said Dr. Sridhar. “I am thrilled for the continued opportunity to help with leading the transformational role that CSU plays in Cleveland and Northeast Ohio.”
The appointment will be presented to the CSU Board of Trustees for ratification at their next meeting.
