PlayhouseSquare Closures

Published on

If you haven’t ventured to the west end of campus recently, there is a lot of excitement around the PlayhouseSquare Chandelier Lighting Ceremony, “Dazzle the District.” This event is Friday, May 2, and, per the city of Cleveland, several streets near campus will be closed in advance of the event Friday evening.

Please note the following road closures, as they may affect your commute between April 30 and May 2:

Wednesday, April 30: Euclid Avenue between East 13th Street and East 14th Street will close after morning rush hour.

Thursday, May 1: Euclid Avenue will close between East 13th Street and East 18th Street. East 14th Street will close between Euclid Avenue and Prospect Avenue after evening rush hour.

Friday, May 2: East 17th Street will close from Prospect Avenue to just north of Euclid Avenue. The roads will reopen by 9 a.m. on May 3.

Access to West Garage (WG) on East 17th Street will be available from Chester Avenue only during the closure on May 2.

CSU Parking anticipates city streets will be very congested due to these closures and the re-routing of RTA busses. Alternate parking for prepaid green hangtags is available in CG, MG, UG, EG & SG (swipe in and out with your active Viking Card).

To avoid the majority of traffic and congestion on Friday, CSU Parking recommends parking in South Garage (SG). SG is located on East 21st Street between Prospect and Carnegie Avenue. Prepaid Green and White hangtag holders must have their Viking Card ID to access SG.

If you don’t have an ID, stop by the Viking Card Office (MC 112) to get a Viking Card ID. Once you’ve received a Viking Card, please contact the Parking Office (216-687-2023) so we can activate the card for SG access. As always, prepaid hangtags must be displayed when parked on campus.
