Public Notice of CALEA Accreditation Assessment
The Cleveland State University Police Department (CSUPD) will undergo a three-day, on site evaluation to ensure compliance with the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies’ (CALEA) accreditation standards. A team of CALEA assessors will conduct an on-site assessment at CSUPD from April 18 – 20, 2016. The assessment includes a dedicated public call-in session and in-person hearing,
To obtain accredited status, CSUPD must comply with 189 applicable professional standards. While on site, the assessors will review agency policies and practices, interview personnel, and observe operations.
As part of the assessment, agency employees and the general public are invited to offer comments regarding CSUPD by telephone. The public may call (216) 687-9246 on Tuesday, April 19 between the hours of 2 and 4 PM. Telephone comments are limited to 10 minutes and must directly address CSUPD’s ability to comply with CALEA standards. An overview of CALEA standards can be found on CALEA’s website at www.calea.org.
The public can also take part in an in-person hearing with the assessors on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at 5 PM at CSUPD, 1840 Chester Ave, Cleveland, Ohio 44114.
The CALEA assessment team is composed of public safety and law enforcement practitioners from out-of-state agencies.
