Today, we celebrate Kionna Byous.

CSU: Have you had any significant Internships/Co-ops/Careers while at CSU?

KB:
I have been fortunate to engage in the following diverse opportunities:

- I served as a Career Development Specialist in the United States Air Force Reserve, where I applied my skills to empower individuals in their career paths.

- I completed an internship at the Northeast Ohio VA Medical Center, where I gained valuable experience in healthcare and serving our veteran community.

- I proudly served as a Veteran Ambassador at Cleveland State University's Veteran and Military Success Center, supporting fellow veterans in their academic endeavors.

CSU: How would you describe the connections you have made with the faculty and staff at CSU?

KB:
The connections I have forged with the faculty and staff at CSU have been invaluable. Their mentorship, guidance, and support have played a pivotal role in my academic and personal growth. Through their encouragement, I have been inspired to pursue excellence and make meaningful contributions to my field.

CSU: How has Cleveland State inspired you for your future?

KB:
CSU has inspired me for my future by providing a rich and inclusive learning environment. The university's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion has empowered me to embrace different perspectives and fostered a sense of belonging. Moreover, CSU's emphasis on experiential learning has equipped me with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in my chosen career path.

CSU: How do you think you have fulfilled the CSU mission (empowering others, creating knowledge, engaging our community and shaping our world)?

KB:
I believe I have fulfilled the CSU mission in several ways:

- Empowering others: Through my roles as a Career Development Specialist and Veteran Ambassador, I have empowered individuals to achieve their academic and career goals.

- Creating knowledge: My academic pursuits and experiences have contributed to the creation and dissemination of knowledge within the university community.

- Engaging our community: I have actively engaged with various community organizations and initiatives, leveraging my skills and expertise to make a positive impact.

- Shaping our world: By serving in the US Air Force Reserve and supporting veterans, I have contributed to shaping a better world for our military community.

I would also like to add that I am deeply grateful for the opportunities and experiences I have had at CSU. I am committed to continuing my journey of growth, service, and excellence as I return to CSU to pursue my master’s degree.
