Cleveland State University will host three delegations of Chinese students from multiple universities as part of a series of summer immersion programs designed to increase cultural understanding and collaboration between the Unites States and China. The initiatives will include classroom observation, English language instruction, cultural awareness programming, field trips to various points of interest in the region, and tours of area businesses.

“University cultural exchanges are a key avenue for increasing partnership and understanding between nations,” says Cindy Skaruppa, Vice President of enrollment services at Cleveland State. “We are proud to work with our Chinese counterparts to offer multiple immersion opportunities that provide tremendous benefits to all involved.”

The three summer programs, the ESL Summer Immersion Program, Business Learning Experiential Program and American Education and Culture Exploration Camp, will host students from Jillin Normal University in Siping, China University of Petroleum in Qingdao, Northwestern Polytechnical University in Xi'an and Hunan University of Commerce in Changsha. Business partners for the programs will provide facility tours and experiential learning opportunities for participants. Partners include the Cleveland Cavaliers, ideastream, Lincoln Electric, Vitamix and Calfee, Halter & Griswold LLP.
