Team CSU Hoping to Spell S-U-C-C-E-S-S at This Year's CLE Bee
Cleveland State University (CSU) is thrilled to announce its participation in the 2024 CLE Bee—an adult spelling competition that’s also a celebration of literacy and community—at Windows On The River on Wednesday, Sept. 11, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Hosted by The Literacy Cooperative, this annual fundraiser fosters a vibrant atmosphere of fun and camaraderie while supporting crucial literacy initiatives. Teams of three adults compete in a spelling bee, where answers are written on whiteboards, making for a unique and engaging challenge.
“We’re very excited to be part of the CLE Bee this year,” said CSU President Laura Bloomberg, Ph.D. “As Cleveland’s university, we’re deeply committed to addressing educational needs like this in our community. Our team is ready to give their best performance and enjoy the experience, all in support of improving literacy for adults across the region.”
The Literacy Cooperative arose from a critical need identified in 2004, when it was discovered that 69 percent of adults in Cleveland and 47 percent in Cuyahoga County had literacy levels below the eighth grade. The organization works to bridge gaps in education and support, helping individuals reach their full literacy potential for better employment, self-sufficiency and lifelong learning.
Join us in cheering on Team CSU as they spell their way through this exciting event!
