Meet Christa Laser.

Laser is a law professor, legal scholar and former scientist whose career spans science, intellectual property law and innovation policy. After transitioning from scientific research to law, she spent a decade litigating high-stakes patent, trademark, copyright and pharmaceutical cases for Fortune 500 technology and life sciences companies, including Apple, Samsung, AbbVie, Abbott and Intel. 

Her scholarship on intellectual property and innovation has been cited by leading casebooks, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and briefs submitted to the U.S. Supreme Court. An award-winning Toastmaster and frequent speaker on artificial intelligence, biotechnology and innovation policy, Laser is writing Why Innovation Fails Us, a book exploring how legal incentives shape technological progress and the future of human innovation.

The topic of her talk is Why Innovation Fails Us: The Laws that Shape Progress and How to Change Them.
