Marc A. Stefanski Discusses Philosophy Behind Third Federal at Levin College Forum

“Love” might be all you need (according to the Beatles), but it’s not a word you find in many corporate mission statements.

Then again, Third Federal Savings & Loan isn’t your typical corporation. Alongside “trust,” “respect,” “commitment to excellence” and “fun,” this Cleveland institution embraces “love” as a guiding principle.

“We define ‘love’ as a genuine concern,” Third Federal Chairman and CEO Marc A. Stefanski said during the Levin College Forum on March 5 at Cleveland State University’s Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs. “We have a genuine concern for each other, our management team and all our associates. We also have a genuine concern for the communities and the customers we serve.”

His parents founded Third Federal in 1938.

At CSU, Stefanski touched on a range of topics, including Third Federal’s key role in the revitalization of Cleveland’s historic Slavic Village neighborhood, where the company is based.
