Our Strategic Commitments and Goals for 2023-24

Dear Colleagues,

At our CSU Board of Trustees meeting earlier today, I presented our strategic goals for the 2023-24 academic year, which the Board approved as presented. These seven goals, organized under three strategic commitments, will guide our work in identifying and executing on priorities throughout the year.

The strategic commitments and goals are as follows:

Strategic Commitment: Differentiate on Student Success
Goal 1: Ensure all students experience a sense of engagement, wellbeing and belonging at CSU.
Goal 2: Increase undergraduate student year-over-year persistence and timely graduation rates.
Goal 3: Increase undergraduate and graduate student enrollment.

Strategic Commitment: Achieve Distinction as a Leading Public Urban Research University
Goal 4: Strengthen our faculty and staff community.
Goal 5: Strengthen the University’s research enterprise.

Strategic Commitment: Ensure Financial Resilience and a Strong Campus Community
Goal 6: Maximize CSU financial and operational stability and effectiveness.
Goal 7: Ensure all goals and actions are grounded in core principles of justice, equity, diversity and inclusion.

Within each goal, the senior leadership team and I have identified clear, specific deliverables as well as measures of success. We are monitoring our progress closely on a regular basis to ensure that we are meeting expectations, providing an exceptional experience for all CSU students and fulfilling our mission.

Senior leaders across all areas of campus are responsible for aspects of these goals, and you should expect to hear more about priorities and strategies in relation to your own work from your supervisor.

I appreciate your support in pursuing these campus-wide goals. Each of us has a role to play in advancing our university priorities, regardless of title or department. We all share a responsibility for helping our students learn, grow and find success at CSU.
