October 2024
President Bloomberg visited with prospective students during the University's annual Día Familiar event. Also included in this month's newsletter: we recap of the State of the University address, student-athletes meet with Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose, and alumni tell their "If Not for CSU" stories.
September 2024
For this first CSU Matters of the 2024-25 academic year, President Bloomberg met with the team of CSU students, faculty and staff members who are tending to a rooftop garden with the help of FarmBots. In addition, this newsletter includes articles on CSU's new integrated majors, a partnership with TransDigm Group Inc., and the debut of CSU's updated website.
June 2024
During the summer, President Bloomberg spoke with Beverly Pettrey, chief of the CSU Police Department, about their innovative approach to campus safety and student wellbeing. Dr. Jill Gordon, dean of the Levin College of Public Affairs and Education, joined President Bloomberg for a conversation about the dean's first semester at CSU and her insights into the Levin College. President Bloomberg also shared highlights from spring Commencement, including the semester's five University Valedictorians and the academic excellence of our student-athletes.

During a visit to the School of Music in the College of Arts and Sciences, President Bloomberg spoke with students and faculty about the impact of music and music education on their lives. President Bloomberg filmed this month's CSU Matters from the road during a trip to Florida to meet with alumni and friends of the University. President Bloomberg also shared news about the College of Law's new Animal Law Center and Clinic and CSU's spot on the latest Forbes rankings of the best employers for veterans.

President Bloomberg met with faculty members and students from the College of Health's Speech and Hearing Clinic, which is a part of the Department of Communication Science and Disorders. President Bloomberg celebrated the 15-year anniversary of the Center for Gene Regulation in Health and Disease (GRHD) by speaking with the Center's director, faculty and research assistants. CSU's Office of Career Development and Exploration has been hosting a series of career preparation events on campus, and President Bloomberg met with Brittany Wampler, director, and students impacted by these events and services. In addition, this month's newsletter includes the announcement of CSU's newest distinguished professor, the Poetry Center's 60th anniversary and our student-athletes' academic success in 2022-23. President Bloomberg also unveils the first entry in her series of book recommendations.

At the Hannah Gibbons-Nottingham School in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District, President Bloomberg met Lora Stewart, one of this year's Cleveland Teaching Fellows, and others connected to the Fellowship to discuss the importance of the program. This month's newsletter also includes a recap of Judge Clifton Newman's campus visit, the contract extension for head women's basketball coach Coach Kielsmeier, an award for the Office of Civic Engagement, and the Cleveland Clinic's new quantum computer.

President Bloomberg made a visit to the Cavs Legion Lair in Battery Park, where our new esports team competes. While there, she spoke with PJ Farrell, director of esports, and several student-athletes about the program. President Bloomberg also shares news on the men's and women's basketball teams in the Horizon League championships, the University's latest appointment to the Board of Trustees, the world premiere of a student choral composition and faculty research into the benefits of paid leave.

President Bloomberg asked soon-to-be graduates about their CSU experiences and their plans for the future in the hours leading up to the Fall 2022 Commencement ceremony. This month's edition also includes the announcement of Dr. Nigamanth Sridhar as CSU's provost and senior vice president of academic affairs, the academic success of our student-athletes, and a recent grant to study inclusivity in STEM studies. CSU was also named one of the nation's most engaged campuses for student voting.
