Transfer Students Next Steps: Phase 1

Congratulations on being admitted to Cleveland State! We are so excited to welcome you to our community. The steps below will help you with a smooth start to your semester. If you have not already done so, please be sure to accept your offer of admission in your application portal. Then, continue on with your next steps below!

Register for Orientation

Although optional, it's best to attend an orientation to get started on the right path. Orientation will help you learn about CSU and build your support system by introducing you to other students, staff, and faculty members. 

Review Your Transfer Credit Evaluation

Once we know you plan to come to CSU, our Registrar's Office will complete an official credit evaluation that can be viewed in CampusNet. Once it is ready, we'll send you an email! 

Schedule an Advising Appointment

All transfer students must meet with an academic advisor to register for classes. Most students will use Starfish to schedule advising appointments; however, those in the Monte Ahuja College of Business will use their self-scheduler. 

Class registration typically begins in March for transfer students for the following Fall, so it is best to wait until March to make your advising appointment. If you are admitted for the Spring or Summer term, you should make your advising appointment as soon as possible. 

File the FAFSA 

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) should be filed by anyone who is a United States citizen and wants to be considered for federal student aid, such as federal grants, work-study funds, and loans. 

Submit Your Housing Contract

To live on campus, you must complete a Housing Contract. CSU has three residence halls on campus, and transfer students can expect to live in The Langston or The Edge on Euclid.
