Center for Computing Education and Instruction

Advanced Training

School districts are able to grow their CS college preparation pathways in a supported environment with teacher cohorts and advising from CSU. The Center for Computing Education and Instruction offers three different advanced training options for CS teachers:

  • A one-week Data Science PD with Bootstrap: School districts choosing to implement a data science course will benefit from a cohort model with one week of professional development and monthly coaching sessions throughout the school year.

  • A one-week CS curriculum PD from the Beauty & Joy of Computing: New cohort teachers who enter the Supplemental License program during the summer of 2024 will be able to return for advanced training in AP Computer Science Principles (CSP) within the same curriculum platform, Beauty & Joy of Computing.

  • A one-week professional development from The Coding School, offering an introduction to Quantum Computing, AI and Cyber Security: This one-week workshop will enable teachers to expose their students to these areas of emerging technology through units, lessons and activities for every level of CS. Teachers may also offer their students follow-up courses or flex credit in a specific area of emerging technology by choosing to implement the “Computer Science with In-Depth Study” course option (Subject Code 290310). High schools choosing to offer this advanced elective would allow their students to access a full course in Quantum Computing, AI or Cyber Security.
