Title IX | Sexual Misconduct
Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 prohibits sex discrimination in federally funded education programs and activities. The law states: "No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving federal financial assistance." The University maintains a Title IX Policy which implements Title IX's prohibition against gender discrimination and sexual harassment and Grievance Procedures for Addressing Formal Complaints of Sexual Harassment Under the May 19, 2020 Title IX Regulations to report sexual misconduct or sexual harassment.

Sexual harassment and sexual misconduct, including sexual assault, sexual exploitation, relationship and dating violence, and stalking, may be reported to the Title IX Coordinators:

The University prohibits sexual harassment and sexual misconduct pursuant to the Policy Against Discrimination, Harassment, Sexual Violence and Retaliation and maintains OIE Procedures for sexual misconduct that falls outside of the jurisdiction of Title IX. The Title IX Coordinators in the Office for Institutional Equity assists students with accessing the policy and procedures which applies to their situation.
The U.S. Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights (OCR) is the division of the federal government charged with enforcing compliance with Title IX. Information regarding OCR can be found at www.ed.gov/about/offices/list/ocr/index.html
