Summary: In this session, participants will explore the Sexual Assault Kit Initiative and learn ways in which they can implement strategies to support survivors of sexual assault. Through extensive research conducted with survivors, Title IX professionals and other higher ed professionals will learn best approaches to facilitate reporting and mitigate barriers for survivors within our campus communities.

Title IX- Survivor Informed Responses to Human Trafficking Victimization

Presenter: Carolyn Kinkoph, Cleveland State University, Administrative Secretary

Summary: In this session, Carolyn will tell the personal story of her daughter, Courtney, who was victimized by human trafficking and explore a trauma-informed approach to intervening, supporting, and advocating for those who may be affected in our own campus communities. As the co-founder of Alliance Against Human Trafficking (AAHT), Carolyn has worked with multiple systems to educate and explore best practices through a comprehensive lens.

Understanding International Student Trends in Title IX

Summary: As domestic enrollment decreases, higher education institutions will increasingly rely on international enrollment. In order to facilitate student success, cultural nuances will be explored through the lens of international student services to aid Title IX professionals in facilitating reporting and supporting with cultural competence and understanding.

What’s in a Name? The Lived Experiences of Trans College Students Using a Chosen Name Policy

Presenter: Dr. Mitch Lieberth, Cleveland State University, Academic Advisor

Summary: In this session, participants will explore the labor transgender college students performed to mitigate challenges in a fast-tracked chosen name policy and how it impacted student retention and success. Dr. Lieberth will explore their research and the subsequent policy change recommendations for higher educational institutions to best support trans students, staff, and faculty.

Summary: In this session, participants will explore alternative resolution as a pathway to student success and addressing harm on college campuses. This session will discuss how to operationalize alternative resolution, including policy development, merits, and limitations of alternative versus formal processes and recommend documents for each step of alternative resolution.
