December 8, 2025 — Recognizing Innovation and Leadership at CSU

Liftoff Graduation 2025

On December 8, 2025, The Beth E. Mooney Center for Transformative Leadership and the Weston Ideation Lab brought together leaders from across the university and the community to celebrate the inaugural LIFT cohort and recognize the 2026 Fellows. The 2025 LIFT cohort presented recommendations for strengthening our higher ed community. Their action learning projects represented the culmination of their eight-month transformative leadership experience. Following the presentations, a reception was held to congratulate the fellows on their completion of the program and welcome the 2026 LIFT cohort. Beth E. Mooney, former chairman and CEO of Keybank, was in attendance to share reflections on the importance of leadership development and continuous learning. “This is a journey that is very personal,” she said. “Leadership matters. It’s conscious. It’s a choice. It’s a skill. It’s a mindset. And it’s values-driven.” View all photos from the event.

Attendees mingled over appetizers and engaged in a rocket-building activity designed to foster connection and illustrate the traits of transformative leaders. Learn more about the LIFT program

October 16, 2024 - Richard W. Pogue Leadership Conversation Series

Robert Portman

The Beth E. Mooney Center for Transformative Leadership was proud to be a co-sponsor of the inaugural Richard W. Pogue Leadership Conversation, along with the P. Kelly Tompkins Leadership and Law Program at Cleveland State University College of Law. Moderated by CSU|LAW Dean Lee Fisher, the first conversation in the series featured former U.S. Senator for Ohio Rob Portman.

In 2010, then Congressman Rob Portman and then Ohio Lt. Governor Lee Fisher were the respective Republican and Democratic candidates in a race for the U.S. Senate. Congressman Portman won the election, and Senator Portman and Dean Fisher will discuss that election campaign and the need for bipartisanship, civility and open and inclusive dialogue not only in American politics but in society at large.
