Center for Civics, Culture and Society

The Center for Civics, Culture and Society cultivates civic and intellectual excellence through the serious study of history, philosophy, and the American founding. We bring students, faculty, and the wider community together around primary texts, rigorous inquiry, and a culture of civil discourse, the habits of mind a free society depends on.

In 2023, Ohio established five independent Schools of Civic Thought, and CCCS is proud to be one of them.

Through our work, we offer:

• Courses that put students in direct conversation with foundational texts, not textbook summaries
• Public programming that models the kind of open, good-faith debate too often missing from civic life
• Community outreach, including our Teacher Seminar, extending civic education beyond the university
