OT-36 Alignment

CSU's Core Curriculum program aligns with the Ohio Department of Higher Education's OT-36 Initiative, a state-wide general education system. As part of that alignment, we are required to submit core curriculum courses to the OT-36 review panel for approval.

The submission process is handled by the Office of Instructional Excellence based on faculty provided documentation. Once a course has been approved by CSU's University Curriculum Committee, the Core Curriculum Director will reach out to the originator to complete additional documents and transition previously completed information to the required documentation.

OT-36 Approvals

If you have been contacted by the Core Curriculum Director and asked to complete OT-36 documents, you can find instructions and relevant documents below.

Completing OT-36 Documents

1. Fill out the Course Details Form provided below. 
   • Note: The ODHE provides no guidance on the distinction between "Instructional Goals or Objectives" and "Course Learning Outcomes" found in this document. Our suggestion is to identify the core competencies as the "Goals or Objectives" and your specific course learning outcomes as the "Course Learning Outcomes".
2. Copy and paste the information from the "OT-36 Outcome Mapping" portion of the Core Course Approval document to the appropriate OT-36 Learning Outcome Template provided below.
   • Note: If your course was submitted as an Inquiry Launch or Quantitative & Formal Reasoning course, then you have already completed the official OT-36 Learning Outcome Template and so may skip this step.
3. Submit both forms to the Core Curriculum Director at corecurriculum@csuohio.edu.
